End of Year and Start of New School Year Information

As we draw closer to the end of this academic year we wanted to share with you some information for over summer and the start of next academic year:

• School closes at 3.15pm this Friday 17^th July 2026


• Y6 leavers cannons will be at 3.15pm on the KS2 playground (if you have smaller children to collect first we recommend you collect them first and then come to KS2 playground (we will release from 3.05pm on the other gates)


• There is no staffed reception or phones over summer


• If you need to contact school urgently over summer please email [email protected] – this email address is monitored over summer but we will only respond to urgent safeguarding email all other emails will be responded to in September to allow our staff to have a well deserved break.


• School re-opens to staff on Tuesday 1^st September for training – the phonelines and reception will be staffed from 1pm to 3pm on this day


• School re-opens to pupils on Wednesday 2^nd September at 8.45am (please note there is no breakfast club for the first three days of school)


• Please note: New to nursery and reception children have been contacted by Mrs Watson with specific information regarding their staggered start.


• Breakfast Club re-commences on Monday 7^th September 2026


• If you have a safeguarding emergency over summer you can contact the Local Authority Designated Officer on 01302 366666


• Please remember to check for any lost property before we break up this Friday as everything left will go to charity over the summer.

School Meals

At Woodfield Primary School, we are proud to offer healthy, nutritious school meals prepared fresh each day.

School meals currently cost £2.90 per day and must be paid for in advance using the Arbor App. We are unable to accept cash or cheque payments.

Parents can top up their Arbor account by as much or as little as they wish; however, all meal accounts must remain in credit at all times. Parents of children in Years 1 to 6 can also use Arbor to book either a main meal or jacket potato option in advance. Please ensure your account has sufficient funds available before making bookings.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are expected to have a school meal each day, as these meals are provided free of charge through the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme or through benefit-related Free School Meals, where applicable.

If dinner money falls into arrears, a reminder letter will be issued. Persistent unpaid balances may result in your child being required to bring a packed lunch until the outstanding debt has been cleared.

Free School Meals

Your child may be entitled to Free School Meals if you receive one of the following:

• Universal Credit*

• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

• The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

* From September 2026, all families receiving Universal Credit are entitled to Free School Meals.

Please note that school meals must be paid for until official confirmation of eligibility has been received.
