Our Curriculum Intent

At Woodfield, we define ‘curriculum’ as the totality of a child’s experience during their time at our school. We aim to ensure that all children are ready to transition to the next phase of their education with not only the right knowledge but also the right skills.

As a result of our research-led Appreciative Inquiry, we have created a curriculum with our whole community in mind.

Our Curriculum Intent

At Woodfield, we value the uniqueness of each and every child; recognising and nurturing their potential for learning. Our aim, delivered through our bespoke curriculum, is to promote an inclusive, child centred approach to learning; where our core values of aspire, respect and engage are at the centre of everything we do. We believe that our curriculum offers a balanced approach between understanding and using knowledge, as well as developing and applying skills (all of which leads to securing understanding and interleaved progression for our children). Our curriculum is designed to promote our key drivers of create, discover and explore. We have sought the views of key stakeholders to ensure that our curriculum is personalised around the needs of our children. It reflects the differing backgrounds and varying experiences of our children, setting learning in local, national and global contexts wherever possible. It celebrates diversity and is rooted in authenticity to ensure that learning is relevant, purposeful and appropriately sequenced so that our children learn content specific to certain points in their life.
